When deciding to make funeral arrangements in advance, there are a couple of options available. Firstly you may invest money into a Funeral Bond, or alternatively, you may pre-pay your funeral by entering into a fixed price funeral contract.
Funeral Bond
A funeral bond is an investment specifically designed to have funds put away to cover the cost of future funeral expenses, a funeral benefit is then released at the time of your passing. It is a capital guaranteed investment providing exemptions from income and assets tests, providing the investment amount is within specific limits.
Pre-Paid Funeral Plan
A pre-paid funeral plan is a way of paying your funeral expenses beforehand. In consultation with your funeral director, the exact details to your wishes in regards to your funeral service are discussed, enabling a total cost to be established. This total amount is either paid in full or arrangements can be made to direct debit payments for an amount that suits you over a period of time. All money is held by an independent insurance company with a funeral director of your choice nominated to conduct your service. Your contract is binding with prices fixed at current day prices.
Today more and more people are recognising the benefits of organising and documenting their exact wishes to ease the burden emotionally and financially of those loved ones left behind.
